Lela Savić

Lela Savic is the founding editor of La Converse, a pioneering francophone, community-powered media. Before that, she’s been a journalist that has reported on politics and human rights for Journal Métro in Montreal, contributed to CBC’s investigative program Enquête, and worked with La Presse. Lela is a recognized voice in discussions on media biases and positionality, delivering lectures across Canada, the U.S., and Europe.

Her academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Psychology from Concordia University, alongside a Journalism certificate from the University of Montreal. Motivated by the frequent misrepresentation of her community, the Roma, in media narratives, Lela has dedicated her career to inclusivity in journalism. Her leadership in this field was honored with the King Charles Coronation medal in 2024.
