Colette Brin, PhD

Colette Brin is a Professor at Université Laval’s Département d’information et de communication and Director of the Centre d’études sur les médias. Her research and teaching focus on recent and ongoing changes in journalism, through policy and organizational initiatives, as well as citizens’ news practices.

She coordinates the Canadian study for the Digital News Report (Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism) and recently co-edited a collection of essays on artificial intelligence, culture and media (Presses de l’Université Laval, 2024).

She is Chairperson of the Canada Revenue Agency’s Independent Advisory Board on Eligibility for Journalism Tax Measures. Prof. Brin also co-chairs the Arts, media & culture axis of the Observatoire international sur les impacts sociétaux de l’intelligence artificielle et du numérique (OBVIA), a responsible AI research network based in Québec.
